David Ji, BDM Digital Marketing
David Ji quit working in hospitality about four years ago to pursue his dream of running his own business. When I asked what prompted him to start his own thing, his answer was familiar, “At its core, it’s about ‘freedom’ and autonomy to do what you like, without people micromanaging you and putting limits on what you do.”
He hastened to add that this unbounded freedom can be a double-edge sword, “You can get caught up in the enthusiasm for your endeavour, and not spend enough time on planning and strategy.” So, rather than rushing into things, David has focused on personal development and training, to build a solid foundation for success.
The business he’s developing provides digital marketing services to small businesses, so they can focus on what they do best. After starting out working with dental practices, they’ve switched to financial advisors. The reason for the change in direction was to have a greater sense of purpose. By connecting regular people to advisors, Dave feels he can play his part in helping those people achieve financial freedom. This new Simon Sinek-like focus on the ‘why’ of his business has injected some fresh energy, and they are starting to see results.
Speaking of fresh energy ;), Dave came into the studio recently for some headshots to promote this new venture, and expand his professional network. He’s already using them on Facebook, Slack, his email profile, and LinkedIn. In his own words, “anywhere I need to show myself professionally”.
If you need a new headshot we hold regular individual headshot days for entrepreneurs, business people, and anyone else wanting a more polished profile online. Find out more and book online today.
