Whilst it’s not required, it makes for a more polished result to have your hair and make-up done for your shoot, plus it’s nice to be pampered.
GrayNoise work with a range of professional freelance hair and make-up artists. We can book one on your behalf to style you on the day of your shoot, or you can make your own arrangements.
If you booked a Deluxe Individual Headshot Session it includes professional hair and make-up. Please arrive an hour before your scheduled shoot time, with clean hair and no make-up, or very light make-up.
If you would like to add a hair and make-up artist to another session please contact us as soon as possible so we have time to arrange it. Rates vary depending on the number of people, and the balance of men and women. The service is more popular for women, but it’s great for evening out skin tone on men, and creating a generally sharper look.
Alternatively if you’d like to arrange your own hair and make-up you can liaise with us to have your stylist meet you at our studio. Otherwise, there are a number of retail services you can book prior to your shoot including,
- BlowBar – bookable hair and make-up services in Sydney CBD and Bronte; and
- Sephora – bookable hair and make-up services in several locations including Sydney CBD and Broadway.
Other clients just schedule a wash and style with their regular hairdresser the day of the shoot.
In conclusion, professional hair and make-up is not essential, we retouch your final choices anyway. It’s really down to a personal choice of how you want to present yourself to the world in your photos. Around 20-25% of women and less than 5% of guys I shoot have used some form of hair or make-up service. These numbers are reflected in the examples in my headshots portfolio too.
