Project overview
Bolton Clarke Willowdale, located in Denham Court, NSW, is a premium residential aged care facility built by Lipman. The project combines contemporary architecture and thoughtful landscaping. My role was to capture project completion photography the build, architecture, functionality, and atmosphere of the completed project for Lipman.
The brief
The brief focused on highlighting:
- The double-height entry foyer with its inviting, hotel-like atmosphere.
- Landscaped recreation spaces and interior livings spaces.
- Architectural masonry and cladding of the organic forms used throughout the design
- Interior design elements showcasing finishes, craftsmanship, quality and versatility of the builder and their contractors.

Approach
Capturing Bolton Clarke Willowdale required:
- Preparation: A discussion with the site manager to identify key features that demonstrated Lipman’s construction experience.
- Lighting: establishing the best time of day to capture everything in one site visit in order to keep to a tight budget. Using technology like HDR to balance the lighting when it wasn’t ideal.
- Composition: Emphasising scale, organic lines, and framing to showcase design elements.
- Detail Shots: Highlighting the mix of materials, textures, and thoughtful flow of the spaces.

Challenges
- Lighting Variability: Timing and post-production adjustments ensured consistent exposures and as much detail as possible was captured.
- Tight schedule: due to the impending handover of the project and tight budget, the project needed to be captured in one short visit.
- Active project: at the time of shooting the project was still active in it’s QA phase, so careful post-production was required to clean-up some tell-tail signs of a construction site, whilst keeping the photos true to life.

Results
The final images highlighted:
- Exteriors: The modern facade and landscaped gardens.
- Interiors: The spacious foyer, thoughtful recreation areas, and private rooms.
- Lifestyle: A focus on comfort, accessibility, and connectedness.
The photographs received positive feedback, effectively showcasing the facility’s blend of design and care.
